Charge Bikes

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Charge is a bicycle company based in the UK.  They make make an excellent line of city bicycles.

Tell us a little bit more about Charge Bikes and the company philosophy?

“Charge Bikes is a UK based bicycle company specializing in simple yet functional hardtail bicycles and frames with a distinct and contemporary styling. Our frames are designed using carefully selected tubesets that are fit for their purpose without the need for big reinforcing gussets or oversized tubes. Charge products range from the ultimate cutting edge titanium frames that lead the way in performance and lightweight design to the high quality, great value steel frames and sensibly spec’d complete bikes. We intend Charge to be a breath of fresh air in a world of generic hydroformed aluminum, carbon and expensive, complicated dual suspension designs.”

Charge has been released in limited quanities in the United States for Summer 2009.  Currently we carry the Plug model.  The Plug uses Tange tubesets, and custom drawn Tange Fork.  The bicycles has a very solid yet nimble ride in that you can stand on the pedals and feel the power transfer throughout the frame straight to the road.  The Plug also has nice accents like a brown saddle and brown bartape to give it a modern classic style.

Charge also sponsors some of the best freestyle fixed riders in the world including Super Ted as seen below in the Trailer for the new Bootleg Sessions DVD.  They also feature some women riders such as Juliet Elliot who rides fixed freestyle very well.

New Volume Cutters In Stock @ Paradise Garage

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

We have received a small selection of the new  Volume Cutter frames.  If you are interested call 614-299-0899.  We will ship anywhere with applicable shipping costs.   The frames sell for $349.

Volume has released their 3rd batch of Cutter frames, and they have some small improvements that make for a pretty darn perfect fixed gear frame for the money.  First the stickers are removable so if you desire you can have a clean frame free from branding, except for the headbadge, which is cut out of the headtube( No, this does not compromise frame strength).

The next improvement is no integrated seat tube collar, which was a minor flaw from the previous batches, but still no big deal due to the lifetime guarantee on all Volume Cutter frames.  Also, the new frames have a 27.2 seatpost diameter.

The new colors are raw with a clearcoat so you can see all the details in the welding.  The black is a flat black, and then there is the bubblegum color, which we don’t have in stock but can special order.

Volume is producing a fork for this frame that will accomadate a 700c wheel that will allow ample room for barspins on all frame sizes.  The Bundchen fork will be out in April.  If you can’t wait for the Volume fork the Black Market Contraband fork, or the DMR Trailblade are viable options for barspin capability.  We can special order either of these products.

Current Fixed Gear Frame Stock

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Here is a current image list of the fixed gear and single speed frames we have in stock

Fuji Obey Frame Fork and Headset for $400.  We have one 54cm and one 56cm.  This is a limited edition item so this is the only stock we will have of these frames.

We have one Traitor Luggernaut in a 53cm.  This frame and fork retails for $389, this frame has a small scratch on the chainstay, and we are selling it for $339.  Traitor builds very nice affordable city/urban bicycles.  The Luggernaut is lugged steel(4130) frame and can be setup as a single speed freewheel or a fixed gear.

We also have a small stock of the Volume Cutter frames.  The Volume Cutter frame is a fixed gear frame built by a BMX company so they have style in mind as well as durability.  The Cutter has a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty.  These frames have been well received by the freestyle fixed gear community, and Volume is currently building a run of forks akin to a BMX fork that will barpsin very well on the Cutter frames.  As for now only the 56cm frame will allow barspins with fork that is sold with it.  The frame and fork combo goes for $349.  We have in stock two 56cm and one 50cm.
